How many of us struggle daily with weight loss? How many of us have tried many different diets? How many people get over whelmed by all the weight loss tips on the internet? If this sounds like you, you are not alone. I too am all of the above, and this new page on my blog will hopefully help others. Recently I re-joined the gym and hired a personal trainer. I am not rich; I sacrifice my Starbucks coffee budget for my gym membership and am going to see my trainer once a month. My hope is working with a trainer will help me get in shape for the rest of my life.
I am like many women who have always struggled with my weight. I have tried crazy 500 calorie diets, weight watchers, boot camps; kick boxing even visited a weight loss clinic. I have lost pounds here and there but I know that I didn’t lose weight the right way, and some have come back. I have tracked the food I have eaten for over two years via Weight Watchers and Sparks People. I always thought keeping my calories and fat low was the key along with exercise for losing weight. Boy where my eyes just recently opened. Last week was my first session with my trainer – Mike, I wanted him to know that this was my last ditch effort. I also wanted Mike to know that I wasn’t naive to fitness and diet (so I thought). Upon meeting with him I was totally prepared; I had my resting heat rate, my last current blood pressure reading from the doctor, and some of the low fat recipes my husband and I use for meals. Mike looked at me and said "this is what you eat"? I thought well yes, aren’t I doing good? He then pointed at the nutritional information and the sodium line. (Click here for the label he was looking at for Slow Cooker Steak & Potatoes Soup) I looked at it and knew that no number in the thousands is good, but wasn’t sure what to compare it to. I have never looked at sodium or sugars when looking at food, Mike said I needed to cut that way down and suggested that I watch FOODMATTERS and HUNGRY for CHANGE on Netflix. This is where my journey begins. In this blog I will be sharing EVERYTHING, from things I learn doing research, to my personal lifestyle changes, my fitness routines from my trainer so that if interested you too can do them at home. I am not an expert by any means, but I do find the wealth of information overwhelming. If I can help someone else that struggles with weight have a different perspective on food then awesome. I will be sharing my struggles and triumphs with the world too as I think it’s important for you to see that I am not a robot, some days I have no will power, some days I am moody, some days I feel empowered while others I feel weak. I am a normal human being just trying to strive for health and being as fit as I can be.
